Frequently Asked Questions
Adopting An Amicii Dog
What if my adoption doesn't work out?
The vast majority of Amicii dog adoptions lead to long, happy and loving relationships between the dog and their humans. However, if for whatever reason you feel your chosen dog is not correct for you or your family then you MUST contact us via our Rescue Backup Service. We can work through any issues with you or, if you believe these to be insurmountable then we will take the dog back into our care. This is part of your contractual agreement with Amicii and under no circumstances should you take any other course of action regarding an Amicii dog.
How would I collect my dog?
Normally we will try to arrange a collection location within an hour of your home address. Due to geographies we have to make different arrangements for Scotland and the Isle of Man. One of our adoptions team would contact you to discuss specific arrangements for the collection of your dog.
Where can I find your adoption/fostering application form?
There is a link to the online application form within the details of each of our dogs, however you can access the form directly by clicking here.
If you are interested in multiple dogs then please only fill out ONE application form and list the dogs you are interested in on that single form. Please do not submit multiple applications, one per dog, as we are a very small team of volunteers and this adds to our already heavy workload.
How are the dogs transported from Romania?
The dogs are brought to the UK using a Type 2 licenced van. The transport usually leaves Romania on a Wednesday and arrives in Britain on a Friday.
How much does it cost to adopt a dog?
Unfortunately, our costs have risen due to Brexit so for most dogs we ask for a minimum donation of £480.This figure is generally reduced for older dogs or dogs with medical issues.
What is the process for adopting an Amicii dog?
There are three main parts to the adoption process. Firstly, you should complete our online application form with details of the dog(s) you are interested in. If you are interested in multiple dogs then please only complete ONE form, listing all the dogs. Please don't complete one form per dog as this increases our workload. Our adoptions team will review this and contact you to arrange a home check if your application is deemed suitable. If the home check is carried out and all is fine, then an adoption contract needs to be completed and signed. The process for adopting an Amicii dog is the same, regardless of whether the dog is currently in the UK or in Romania.
